🧒 Early Orthodontic Treatment and airway evaluation

Early orthodontic treatment, also known as Phase I treatment, typically begins between the ages of 6 and 10, while a child still has a mix of baby and adult teeth. At this age, the jaw is still developing, which gives us the opportunity to guide growth, prevent future issues, and reduce the need for more invasive treatments later on.

Why Early Treatment Matters:

  • Corrects bite problems (like crossbites and underbites)

  • Evaluating tooth grinding and snoring patterns to assist in the knowledge of  sleep patterns
  • Helps permanent teeth erupt into better positions

  • Prevents crowding by creating space early

  • Improves airway and addresses breathing concerns

  • Can reduce or eliminate the need for tooth extractions or surgery later

  • Can shorten the time of comprehensive treatment when older

Dr. Wolsky evaluates each child carefully to determine if early treatment is necessary or if it’s best to monitor growth until the right time for full braces.
